AP&T is intensifying its collaboration with Diversified Tooling Group (DTG), which is one of the largest manufacturers of press tools in the U.S. The goal is jointly to reinforce the companies’ expertise in tools and their customer offerings in press hardening on the North American market.
“Diversified Tooling Group has provided a full service tool and die process for numerous OEM North American automobile manufacturers for forty years.
The cooperation between AP&T/DTG will now offer a full service hot stamping tool and die process for forming and cooling simulations, die design, die construction, die tryout and panel certification for the North American automobile industry,” says Mike Austin, Director – Manufacturing Engineering at DTG.
“Together we are continuing to develop the press hardening technique in order to be able to offer world-class solutions,” says Johan Friberg, Senior Advisor/Marketing and Sales at AP&T.
In order to develop, test and demonstrate tools and other components, a new press hardening line will be operational at DTG’s American Tooling Center in Michigan at the beginning of next year. The line includes a 1,200 metric ton AP&T press, AP&T’s own furnace with feeding equipment (Multilayer Feeder Furnace) and additional automation for pre-production and to produce small volumes. The press hardening line is basically identical to the line at AP&T’s R&D Center in Ulricehamn, Sweden.
